In order to advance this vision, the work of the DEI committee shall include:

Integrating a DEI framework throughout all Board functions. This includes:
-
Participating in the development and oversight of the School’s strategic plan and policies;
-
Supporting the School’s DEI work in coordination with the School’s other DEI committees
-
-
Serving in an advisory capacity to the Board of Trustees and Head of School on DEI-related topics. The committee will work with outside consultants to bring in new knowledge and perspectives as necessary and appropriate.

Pursuing ongoing DEI training and educational professional development opportunities for the board
The Committee will include trustees, the Head of School, and the School’s DEI Coordinator, with access to support from the School’s external DEI consultants as needed. Members should embrace striving toward cultural humility via an ongoing commitment to learn about other identities, cultures, religions, and global perspectives, that is paired with the capacity to situate their own positionalities across contexts.
The Committee’s membership shall be appointed by the Governance Committee with input from the Head of School, who will seek out engaged individuals who bring a range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to their work. Past experience, leadership, and/or training in DEI work in community-based settings or related contexts is ideal. The overall composition of the committee should include individuals from a diversity of identities.
